OUR STORY

THE VEGETABLE MATTERS STORY

Vegetable Matters opened its doors in July 2017,  with the Drinkwater name being already widely known in the Cotswolds for growers of high quality vegetables.  The family had a retail shop in the local Chipping Campden high street for over twenty years and it unfortunately closed its doors in 2015.

Pete and Amanda Drinkwater saw the need for a local shop to sell the farms produce and opened its doors to the new venture of Vegetable Matters.  They quickly established a wonderful shopping experience by supplying local, sustainable and environmentally friendly vegetables with no food miles and no plastic packaging. With exceptional quality, all grown on the family farm in and around the Cotswold village of Ebrington, Vegetable Matters has a reputation of the freshest vegetables around!

Our local customers are the foundation of our business and we have enjoyed their custom for many years. The Vegetable Matters shelves are brimming with so much more than just vegetables; fresh bread and milk arrive daily, as well as pickles, jams, honey, chutneys and a wide selection of oils, vinegars and salad dressings to compliment all the delicious seasonal vegetables you will see in the farm shop.

The 2020 addition of R & D Walker traditional family butcher next door only adds to this fantastic one stop shopping destination and to our reputation of quality produce that Pete and Amanda and the team demand.

A bit of history....

Drinkwater’s have been growing vegetables on the Cotswolds hills since 1947, when Doug Drinkwater Senior came back from the Second World War and started with a few acres growing sprouts.

Doug’s four sons each joined the business as they left school and the rest is history.
